Is it just me, or is anyone else more than a little concerned about the evidently increasing polarization of Americans, with one side willing to negotiate, progress, insure one nation with liberty and justice for all, and the other side, sure this is all a conspiracy, running apoplectic for their guns and bibles to shove their freedom down our throats and send us back to the dark ages? One side rational and the other bloody insane? Or have I just been reading too many articles like these?

Well... it's not just you. That said, I found a couple of years ago that I had to stop reading Mother Jones, The Progressive, etc., because I found myself depressed afterwards. Yeah, someone's got to be informed about every little thing, but... not the role I can play right now.
Ok, I couldnt get very far in to the first article - there have been crazies collecting guns to protect themselves from the government for a LONG time. I think they used to be mostly in montana, but still.
However, I do find the main stream politics to be rediculously split, to the point where I dont see us as a country having any chance to grow or move forward at all, because the parties have their horns locked in ritualistic combat.
